Mentor & Volunteer
As a FIRST® FRC Competition Team and a Rotary Interact Club, Team 79 Krunch offers a broad spectrum of mentor and volunteer opportunities. Come help inspire and educate our leaders of tomorrow.
Help inspire the leaders of tomorrow
Mentors and volunteers are the heart of Team 79 Krunch. By sharing a few hours of your time and skills, you help students discover engineering, leadership, and service, and get to watch them grow into confident young professionals.
You do not need to be an engineer, and you do not need to commit every week. Whatever time and talent you can share, our students feel the difference.
There is a role for every skill set
Many of these need no robotics experience at all, and you can give as much or as little time as your schedule allows.
Work directly with students
Share your experience and help students master real skills in:
- Mechanical design & fabrication
- Electrical & wiring
- Programming & controls
- CAD & engineering design
- Business, fundraising & project management
- Safety & shop practices
Lend your talents & time
Help with the many things that keep the team running:
- Photography & videography
- Marketing & social media
- Grant writing & sponsorship
- Graphic & web design
- Event chaperones & travel
- Meals, snacks & logistics on build nights
What to expect
Flexible commitment
We meet Wednesdays at 5:30 pm, and more during build season (January to March), but you give as much or as little time as you can. Even occasional help makes a real difference.
Safe & supported
Team 79 Krunch operates under the FIRST® Youth Protection Program. Lead mentors are background-screened, and volunteers who have not completed screening are never left alone with students.
Come see us first
Not sure where you fit? You are welcome to visit a meeting and see the team in action before you commit. We will help you find the right role.
Join us as a mentor or volunteer
We sincerely appreciate your consideration and support. Reach out with any questions, or complete the volunteer application to get started.
