The Team
FIRST® Team 79 Krunch, also known as the Interact Club of Krunch Robotics, is more than a group of students, mentors, and volunteers who meet to build a robot. We are a family that strives to take care of its community while working on common goals as an award-winning FIRST® FRC Robotics Team.
Uniting mentors, engineers, and students through engineering and robotics.
We will learn by using positive attitudes, the latest technology, the will to influence the community, and by committing acts of Gracious Professionalism® on and off the playing field.
Team 79 Krunch is an educational, after-school program open to all students aged 12 to 18 who are interested in having fun while learning about robotics, engineering, and software development; competing in local, regional, and global competitions; and carrying out community service projects that benefit the community and encourage international understanding. No prior experience is required, we will teach you everything you need to know.
As a FIRST® FRC Robotics Team, student members are engaged in a fast-paced learning process of designing, building, and programming a robot capable of performing specific tasks during competitive events on a playing field developed by FIRST®.
With 800+ alumni, FIRST® Team 79 Krunch has mentored and supported over 40 FIRST® FRC, FTC, and FLL teams and continues to inspire innovation, help members gain confidence, become passionate about engineering, work together through differences, and acquire valuable life skills. Our team has hosted many Lego League teams, tournaments, and summer programs offering school-aged children hands-on experience in robotics, physics, science, math, and technology while having fun building competitive robots.
Moving forward, Team 79 Krunch will strive to continue promoting FIRST®, STEM, and acts of Gracious Professionalism® throughout our community, inspiring youths to obtain the skills and experience for success in the global marketplace.
A robotics team and a Rotary Interact Club
As an Interact Club sponsored by the Rotary Club of East Lake Sunrise, our members have fun carrying out service projects and learning about the world. During our FIRST® FRC post-season, we work with community partners on service projects that focus on STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics) while also promoting peace and education, fighting disease, encouraging the advancement of women in STEAM, growing local economies, protecting the environment, and supporting our troops and veterans.
Since 2005, the Rotary Club of East Lake Sunrise has been a community partner with Team 79 Krunch, sponsoring team events, providing volunteer opportunities, developing community awareness, and involving members in Rotary's S4TL ("Seminar 4 Tomorrow's Leaders"). Because our mission of committing acts of Gracious Professionalism® closely aligns with Rotary Interact's mission of charitable service, it was a natural progression for Team 79 Krunch to be inducted as The Interact Club of Krunch Robotics in 2021.
A few recent Rotary community service projects we have been involved in:
- Rotary Club of East Lake Sunrise's Cruisin' The Park Festival and Car Show (annually)
- Rotary Club of East Lake Sunrise Roadside Clean-Ups (ongoing)
- Palm Harbor Holiday Parade, bringing community awareness to Rotary, Interact, and Team 79 Krunch
- The Salvation Army's Red Kettle "Ring The Bell" Campaign
- Oldsmar/East Lake Rotary Armadillo Run
